EPIC’s General Manager of International Services, Keith Martin, and Central European Coordinator, Eva Havelková, have delivered a workshop on social enterprises at the European Social Services conference in Seville Spain.
The conference’s theme ‘Invest, Innovate, Transform, empowering people and communities,’ is one which relates to EPIC’s mission and ethos. The conference was a great opportunity for our staff to share EPIC’s vision, to help people with disability and disadvantage achieve highly in their communities.
“We were honoured to share EPIC’s message with 600 delegates from 39 countries. It was a great opportunity to talk about the great work we are doing in Europe, and to raise awareness for the incredible achievements of some of the people we have been helping,” says Keith.
The 75 minute workshop entitled ‘Local authorities harnessing the potential of social enterprises to support vulnerable people,’ spoke about the positive effect EPIC’s social enterprises are having on their communities.
“It is incredible to see some of the amazing opportunities that have emerged through the social enterprises EPIC supports in Slovakia. It is a model that we are very proud of, and look forward to seeing grow in the future,” says Keith.
The workshop was well received and opened the eyes of many attendees of what is possible when vulnerable people are empowered to transform their lives through employment.
